Chemistry is a year-long
class at YES Prep that introduces topics related to the study of matter. It is
a rigorous course that prepares students for AP Chemistry in their junior or
senior year of high school. It will also prepare them for the rigors of
Physics and AP Biology. Students will learn: Measurements Gas Law Thermodynamics Equilibrium Kinetics Stoichiometry Periodicity and Bonding Chemical Compounds Chemical Reactions By the completion of the
class, students will be able to: 1.
Use problem-solving skills to analyze
scientific and social issues. 2.
Develop quantitative reasoning skills. 3.
Work on inquiry-based laboratories through
the use of equipment and materials to analyze and make observations, to
collect data, and to form conclusions. 4.
Work collaboratively on projects and
laboratories to gain skills in communication. 5.
Write formal laboratory reports for each
